Editor's note: The following is a transcript of a conversation with Trent Cotney of Adams and Reese. You can listen to the interview or read the transcript below.
Emma Richardson: Hi everyone, this is Emma Richardson for OutdoorCoffeeShop.com and I'm talking to our OCS influencer, Trent Cotney. Trent, how are you?
Trent Cotney: Good, how are you?
Emma Richardson: I'm doing just fine. We're talking about October's influencer topic, which is seasonal opportunities for outdoor contractors. Trent, do you have anything you'd like to share?
Trent Cotney: Yeah, absolutely. And obviously it depends on where you are in the United States, but there's a lot of opportunities. If you're in a cold weather climate, you can focus on things like hot tub spas. One of the biggest ways that I've seen landscaping outdoor contractors gain value is through heated driveways, walkways, paths like that, winterizing, extending into lighting and things of that nature. If you're in warmer environments, you can still engage in working on things like soil and civil and site work. The other thing that I see a lot is preparing for spring, which, I'm in Florida, so our spring basically is almost year-round. So you can do a lot of plantings and things like that, as well as make sure you're checking the irrigation for when you'll need it in the summer.
Emma Richardson: Yeah, thinking outside the box is kind of the name of the game there. You have to make sure you're going a little outside your wheelhouse, learning some new stuff.
Trent Cotney: Yeah, absolutely. There's plenty of opportunities out there. It is, I can tell you, just looking at my yard, I could use about five people out there right now.
Emma Richardson: Oh, you and me both. All right, well, thank you so much, Trent. We'll catch you next month.
Trent Cotney: Sounds good. Thank you.
