In addition to 2025 being the first year The Coffee Shops™ attended the Pool Spa Patio Expo as an exhibitor, it was also our first year at Equip Expo! If you haven’t already heard of it, Equip is another hub for contractors, designers, manufacturers and other outdoor industry professionals to learn, network and grow together. While wandering the expo floor, our editor Lauren White got the chance to talk to a variety of representatives from leading outdoor companies. One such individual was Paul Chesebrough, the national account manager at Belgard.
In the interview with Lauren, Paul shared some background on Belgard, saying, “We are one of the nation's largest producers of pavers and retaining walls. That’s our bread and butter, but we are also involved in things like soils, decking, railing, masonry... We're trying to really provide a whole outdoor living experience for our customers.”
And as part of that goal to serve the full breadth of their customers’ needs, Belgard has three main initiatives:
1 – Build with Belgard
This is the core of their business. Paul reiterated, “Like I said, we have a wide array of products, everything from paver to railing to wall. And all of this is done with the intention of speaking to the contractors and providing solutions to them.”
2 – Belgard Design Studio
And part of providing those solutions is supporting them beyond physical supplies. Paul explained, “The design part of a project is often tedious and slow and can be a real friction point for busy contractors. So we created the Belgard Design Studio... It’s a really cool tool that helps contractors with that part of the project. All they have to do is take a picture of the project or draw out what they want to see. Then they submit it to us and we create a 3D rendering based on that.”
3 – Belgard Bidding assistance
On a similar note of supporting contractors with the logistical side of their business, Belgard also offers bidding support. Paul shared a bit about this, saying, “We want to be our customers partner from their project's its infancy all the way through to the to the end goal... The Design Studio is just one way we help with their bidding process, it increases their close rate by a lot with the homeowners, and we are constantly looking for more ways to help.”
