Serving the multi-faceted contractor

Serving the multi-faceted contractor

Heritage’s leaders share how they’re supporting outdoor professionals in an expanding and diversifying market.

Just last month, The Coffee Shops™ crew got the chance to attend the International Pool Spa Patio Expo and the Deck Expo for the first time! We were there celebrating the launch of our new site, OutdoorCoffeeShop.com, as well as spending time with friends, new and old, in the outdoor living and contracting industries. One such friend that we caught up with was the team at Heritage. Brad Amen, their VP of strategic accounts, and Micah Larru, their senior director of national accounts, stopped by for a quick chat.

In our conversation, Brad and Micah shared some insights into the state of the outdoor industry and how Heritage is supporting professionals in the field. One thing that Brad highlighted in particular was the diversification of individual contractor offerings. He explained, “I see a lot more of the full design build firm where you have a pool guy who’s not only doing the pool, but he's doing the irrigation rework, he's doing the landscape lighting and he's doing the outdoor kitchen. And there's also a lot of landscapers that have gotten into the pool space the last four or five years, whether they're contracting them directly or they're subcontracting with a more traditional pool contractor.”

In response to this trend, Heritage has been working to make sure they have also diversified their offerings, especially in the digital space, to serve these multifaceted contractors. Micah shared a bit about their strategy, “We are not trying to develop our own platform for customers to use. We want to find what are they already using and see how can we support that.” An example of this would be the AI summit that they hosted earlier this year that was designed to help contractors across fields learn and grow together.
