Ibiza, one of the Balearic Islands is Spain, is known for its beautiful landscapes, 300 days of sunshine and vibrant nightlife. With a clubbing scene that circles around world-famous DJs, music and sound are at the heart of the built environment of Ibiza. In this project profile, we’re going to dive into how one homeowner combined the beautiful nature of the island with its unforgettable music culture to create a stunning backyard.
The project began with a local design and architecture studio – Terravita. Their team was tasked to create a dream backyard that extended the living space of the Ibizan villa. As they designed the garden, a stunning pergola made of precision-engineered black timber became the focal point of the space. The pergola is multifunctional, able to be an outdoor lounge by day with sensational views of the island and a pavilion for hosting up to 100 guests at night.
In order to be the perfect hosting spot, the Terravita team brought in another local company, Concept Installations. They were able to install a seamless and subtle electrical system that weaves light and sound into the pergola. More specifically, they used L-Acoustics speakers to create a rich, dynamic atmosphere. L-Acoustics was chosen for the company’s Soundvision technology. Robert Cashin, the Concept Installations director, explained, “This system delivers everything the client wanted and more. It has all the precision and detail he was looking for, and the power to scale up for party use as well. The client has already asked to install additional L-Acoustics speakers by the pool.”
