Real people, doing real work

K9 Fasteners leader Barry Campbell discusses innovation, creativity and the state of the industry.  

At the 2026 National Frame Building Association (NFBA) Conference and Expo, Dani Sheehan of The Coffee Shops™ had a chance to sit down with Barry Campbell of K9 Fasteners to hear how the conference was going for the leading fastener manufacturer.  

“We have a great story to tell,” Barry said. “It's based on truth, which is real performance, real product profitability and real on-job excellence for contractors, which is so great to stand behind.” 

The NFBA conference comes at the end of what Barry called the “Wild West Tour” for K9 Fasteners. Traveling across the United States and hitting cities in New Mexico, Colorado and now Oklahoma City, K9 expanded their reach by meeting with customers and prospects from all angles of the industry — contractors, dealers, lumber yards, metal formers and distributors.  

Ending the “Wild West Tour” at NFBA meant a lot to Barry, as the conference has provided inspiration over the years. “It's very exciting to come here, learn, see the different technologies and just stimulate your creativity,” Barry shared. “The technology is exciting, the colors are exciting, the textures are exciting. Being able to see a whole different facet of the building trades — it just opened my mind to so much. If you haven't been here, you got to get to the next show.” 

Barry pointed to NFBA as the springboard for K9 Fasteners’ new focus on Colorado, where timber framing has created “an astounding extreme in architectural wonder and aesthetic greatness excellence.”  

Finally, with over 20 years in the building industry along with experience outside of the trades, Barry offered some heartfelt encouragement to builders: “I am so genuinely impressed and thankful that we get to function in this industry with people that are really working hard, that are really providing for families, that are really providing products and services,” Barry expressed. “It's not pompous. We're just real people doing real work. For all of us out there that are providing quality products and materials to this industry — we have a great life.”
