At the 2025 Equip Expo, The Coffee Shops™ Editor Lauren White took to the trade show floor to learn about the newest innovations in the landscape industry. She spoke with Jim Adams, a landscape veteran, to learn the story behind his exciting new product: The W.I.T.C.H.™ (Wheelbarrow In Tow Conversion Hitch).
With over 40 years in the field and 36 years running a landscape company, Jim was worn from years of hard work. “I’d done the hard things the hard way too long,” he shared. “My knees weren’t working like they used to, and I had to figure out a way to still be productive and get the jobs done.”
After searching the market unsuccessfully for a tool that could help with blowing miles of curb lines and spring mulch jobs, they came up with their own solution. The W.I.T.C.H. is a hitch that allows wheelbarrows to “fly,” moving material faster and easier at the job site.
“The problem with wheelbarrows is, with long distances, multiple runs — it's hard work,” Jim explained. “Towing it alleviates that problem. But it's not the towing that's the value of The W.I.T.C.H.; it's actually the releasing. Releasing allows you to go deeper into a shrub bed where you couldn't do so otherwise. And it's one touch in one second.”
The W.I.T.C.H. hitches and releases equipment to any mower, all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or off-road vehicle, allowing landscapers to get more done in less time.
“Now anyone, regardless of age, strength or skill, can tow 500 pounds, three times faster all day long and still get material delivered with wheelbarrow precision. That's the true value of this,” Jim stated. But they’re not stopping there. “We're still thinking of more ways to use this.”
When asked about the experience at the Equip Expo so far, Jim expressed, “It's been a tremendous show. I mean, this is unbelievable. The size of it!” Attendees at the Equip Expo were surely impressed by The W.I.T.C.H., and one lucky person won a raffle to take one home for free.
