Working on an outdoor greenhouse, shed or gardening area for a client? Then this story and product will come in handy. Christine Burwig’s green thumb turned to stone recently. That’s when she transformed the plywood planks in her greenhouse into beautiful stone countertops with the SpreadStone™ Mineral Select Countertop Kit.

“The painted plywood just wasn’t working,” says Christine, a resident of Concord Township, Ohio. “It was hard to clean and wipe down after using potting soil. Then I heard about this kit that would add a tough stone coating finish. SpreadStone offers a speckled stone appearance, with the final finish that can be smooth or textured, based on the desire of the person applying the product. The result is a low sheen, natural stone slab look.

SpreadStone finishes can be achieved in a four-step application process with all coatings (base, stone and clear), application tools and sanding accessories included in the kit. The only extra items needed are painter’s masking tape and drop clothes or old newspapers.

Now I can just wipe off the countertops after soil or water is on top of them, and the Mantel Stone color leaves them looking great!”

The SpreadStone surface in Christine's greenhouse also has the added benefits of resisting stains, impact, abrasion and household cleaners. And, the final surface of the product is kept food safe and intact with a polyurethane clear coat.
