Alliance Outdoor Lighting showcased their latest products and their team-focused culture at the 2025 Equip Expo.

Alliance Outdoor Lighting drew steady attention at the 2025 Equip Expo in Louisville, Kentucky, as contractors stopped by to learn more about the company’s growing lineup of low voltage lighting solutions. Vincent Bowers, the company’s marketing manager, who has been with Alliance for 14 years, said the show offered strong opportunities to introduce attendees to the company’s technology and long-standing industry partnerships.

Vincent spoke of Alliance’s partnership with Heritage, a family of companies that seeks to provide excellent service as a trusted partner of the top manufacturers in the industry. “We’ve been partners with Heritage brands since before Heritage acquired them, so we’ve grown with Heritage,” Vincent said.

Alliance specializes in low-voltage lighting, producing solid brass fixtures available in aged brass and a premium black overcoat, along with an expanding line of transformers. The company’s technology offerings were a major draw at the booth. “We’ve got everything from simple, bare-bones products to products with all the bells and whistles,” Vincent explained. “We offer color-changing Bluetooth technology and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth transformers.”

A major highlight at the show was Alliance’s BT system, which features tunable white and RGBW color changing capabilities. Vincent noted that users can dim, group lights and create preset themes for holidays or events. “If you have a party or have a special gathering, you can get a little fancy and change colors, whatever you want,” he said.

Contractor response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees were surprised by the simplicity of setup and app control. “They found it pretty neat that they could control everything from the app and that it's very easy to do,” Vincent shared. “We go through the setup to make sure the connectivity that works so that your customers are happy with the end result.”

What truly sets the company apart, Vincent said, is its people. “We are a close-knit group,” he stated. “We've all grown together with the company, and I think that's translated to being passionate about what we do and making sure that we always value our partnerships.”

For lighting designers who need versatility, subtlety and purpose-built solutions, these mini lights add the perfect touch to finish a job.

Picture this: You’ve just finished creating an incredible outdoor oasis for your client – a space designed to impress and invite relaxation. But when the sun starts to set, the floodlights kick on, washing out all your carefully crafted details and leaving guests squinting. Not exactly the experience you promised, right?

Harsh, high-output lighting can overwhelm a space. But that doesn’t mean you have to leave your designs in the dark. Mini lights are a subtle, powerful tool to preserve the mood, highlight key features and ensure your project shines day and night.

Whether you’re outlining a winding path, drawing attention to a sculptural planter or guiding guests through a side gate, smart mini lighting adds polish and professionalism. These compact fixtures deliver just enough glow without overpowering the scene – and they stay discreet during the day, keeping the focus on your landscape design.

Here’s how mini lighting can elevate your next project:

Edge markers: Low-profile fixtures that provide subtle guidance along driveways, docks, steps and deck perimeters without interrupting sightlines.

Accent spotlights: Precision lighting ideal for showcasing special elements like a Japanese lantern, bonsai tree, water feature or textured wall.

Perimeter and gate lights: Compact options designed to direct light downward – perfect for illuminating entryways, side yards and transition spaces where standard path lights don’t fit.

Hardscape lighting: Durable, versatile fixtures that mount to vertical or horizontal surfaces, defining steps, seating walls and hardscape edges with a clean, professional look.

The right mini lights help you do more with less: less glare, less visual clutter and a lot more ambiance.

Pro tip: Use mini lighting strategically at different heights to create layers of illumination. Low edge lights + mid-level accent lights + overhead moonlighting = a dynamic, natural look that feels effortless (and impresses every client)!

Bluetooth landscape lighting is the future

Smart lighting doesn’t have to be complicated. Deliver a high-end, low maintenance experience your clients will rave about.

Outdoor lighting has come a long way from manual switches and fixed-timer systems. Today’s homeowners expect more: personalization, convenience and the ability to create an atmosphere at the touch of a button. Systems built on Bluetooth mesh networks, like those offered by Alliance Outdoor Lighting, can give you a competitive advantage to do just that. Here’s why Bluetooth-enabled lighting matters, how they work and how to make them a selling point with your clients.

Why Bluetooth over Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi, while once a popular smart tech capability, can often be more trouble than it’s worth. Spotty coverage, router dependency and client password sharing make Wi-Fi-controlled lighting clunky and unreliable.

Instead of relying on a single internet access point, Bluetooth fixtures and range extenders communicate with each other to form a self-healing network, giving your customers reliable, responsive control even across a large backyard space.

Other advantages to Bluetooth technology include:

No internet needed – eliminating the headaches of Wi-Fi configuration

Reliable across distance – range extenders carry the signal through trees, hardscapes and structures

Secure and private – no third-party network access required

Fast and easy setup – no app logins, routers or phone calls to tech-savvy relatives

How you can deliver what clients want

Most customers want three things for their lighting: control, color and simplicity. The Alliance BT System delivers all three, and it works with any standard low-voltage transformer. That means you can offer Bluetooth lighting on both new installations and retrofit projects.

What you can offer:

Custom brightness control: Adjust each light from 1% to 100% for subtle ambiance or bold drama

White tuning: Shift from cozy 2700k to crisp 4000k to match architectural tones or landscape needs

Full RGB color: Add excitement with holiday hues, sports team themes or mood lighting

Scene creation and scheduling: Program “Party Mode,” “Romantic Evening” or “Snowy Slumber” scenes your homeowners can activate from their phones

With a simple, user-friendly app available on iOS and Android, your customers can turn lights on or off, group fixtures and play with color whenever they want.

Talking tech with homeowners

Most homeowners don’t want a tech lesson; they want confidence. When presenting a Bluetooth system, focus on what it does for them:

“This lighting system gives you full control over your yard’s look and feel all from your phone. You can easily transition from bright and secure to soft and festive.”

Avoid diving too deep into signal range or voltage details unless the homeowner is curious. Instead, emphasize the experience of living with smart outdoor lighting: effortless control, personalization and the joy of a beautifully lit evening space to enjoy.

Create the ultimate lighting experience with the Alliance BT System and help your clients see their landscape in a whole new light.

Golf might be commonly thought of as a weekend morning game, but, with the right lights, playing at night is a fun experience that shouldn't be missed!

If you follow golf, you’ve heard of the Match, which is a fun event that teams up professional golfers and other athletes to compete with each other for charity. It has been held annually since 2018, with one of the most notable years featuring Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas versus Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy in 2022.

This Match was notable for many reasons, including being Woods’ first time competing since missing the cut at the 150th Open Championship that year, the combined seven birdies from Spieth/JT and the millions of dollars it raised for those recovering from Hurricane Ian. It was also played in the dark.

If that last one made you do a double take, you’re not alone. Most people think of golf as a relaxed game played in the sunshine, and if you put golf and dark together, you might think of a kids’ putt-putt party at the local arcade. But night golf is actually a fun and relaxing way to play the classic game.

The entire idea is pretty straightforward – grab your clubs, find a course near you that hosts night sessions, pick up some glow in the dark or LED balls and you’re ready to go! The hardest part of all of that will probably be finding a course that hosts night sessions as lighting a course for proper play can be a challenge. Where floodlights are a good option for the fairway, it’s important to pay a bit more attention to the green. That’s where Alliance Outdoor Lighting’s specialized GOLF50-BT lights can help!

These lights are custom engineered to provide lighting for outdoor play areas, such as “putting greens, tee boxes, lawn bowling, bocce and shuffleboard.” They feature a 23” stem with a 45-degree angle gooseneck design that creates wide-area illumination without glare. Additionally, they include a Bluetooth-app-controlled RGBW module that allows you to take control of the white, colors and dimming to create the perfect atmosphere for your game.
